Why Nine Star Ki?
Nine Star ki is a tool for self-discovery. In life, just as in nature you are either growing or stagnating. When you are growing you have a sense of being alive, purposeful and ‘in life’, even during tough times. When you are stagnating, you feel stuck, disempowered and lacking motivation.
Knowing and using your Nine Star Ki is like having a spotlight that illuminates your strengths and qualities. It sets off a process of self-discovery enhancing your self-love and self-worth. It’s a personal map that points to how you think, communicate and make decisions as well as what motivates and inspires you. You can also use Nine Star Ki to understand other people and strengthen your relationships.
Nine Star Ki- Your Guiding Stars
When you were born the world was configured in a unique way. There was a specific energy in the atmosphere that you now carry as your constitution or archetype. On your birthday you were infused with the energy of the moment which shaped your personality, gifts, talents and the rhythm of your life.
Nine Star Ki is a map you can consult to help you heal, enhance self-awareness and plan so that you are in the flow of your life. It is like your love song to the world. 1st Number = Birth Star
Your optimal potential, your core energy; what drives you. To grow to your full potential often requires overcoming challenges and developing the strengths of this energy. This is your main energy that dances with the other two.
2nd Number = Heart/ Inner Star
Highlights how you think and communicate and is the home of your emotions. It can show you any wounded aspects of your inner child. Healing these wounds can bring tremendous freedom and empowerment.
3rd Number = Soul Star
This energy reflects how you do things in the world such as how you make decisions, how others often see you and indicates your hopes and aspirations. It is your Soul’s highest evolution.
How to find your Birth Star
Let’s now discover what your guiding stars are. Don’t be scared you don’t need to be good at maths. The numbers are used as a shorthand.
Your Birth Star is the main energy that governs and guides your personality and journey through life. It’s the starting point for understanding your fundamental nature. As you are unique, the way the energy flows through your experiences will be individual as will the way you move through life.
Look at the chart below and find your year of birth. Then trace upwards until you find the corresponding birth star number between 1-9.
For example:
If you were born in 1976 your birth number is 6
If you were born in 1980 your birth number is 2
If you were born in 1973 your birth number is 9
Nine Star Ki Chart- Years
A special note for you if your birthday falls between 1st January and 3rd February
★ Nine Star Ki is based on the solar calendar, a system built on the observed cycles of nature. Instead of a new year starting on 1st January, it begins on 4th February. This is because 4th February is the mid- point between the solstice on 21st December and the equinox on 21st March. Over the centuries it was thought to be the most natural starting point for the year.
What this means for you is that if your birthday falls between 1st January and 3rd February, that in Nine Star Ki you were born the previous year. For instance, if you were born on 1st January 1980, in this system you were born on 1st January 1979. Another example would be, if you were born on 3rd February 2000, in this system you were born in the previous year on 3rd February 1999.
When looking at the chart if you were born between 1st January and 3rd February, keep this in mind. It is only the year (which is your Birth Star) in these special circumstances that changes.
For any birthday between 4th February and 31st December, nothing changes and you do not need to do anything. If you were born on 10th October 1982, you were still born on 10th October 1982.

How to Calculate Your Own Nine Star Number
To calculate your birth number, you’ll want to add up the digits of your birth year until you reach a single digit number, and then subtract that from 11. If you were born between January 1 and February 3, you will subtract that number from 12 instead. Here are a couple of examples:
If you were born in 1986:
Add: 1+9+8+6 = 24
Reduce to a single digit: 2+4 = 6
Subtract from 11: 11-6 = 5
*if you were born between January 1 and February 3, subtract from 12: 12-6 = 6
If you were born in 1940:
Add: 1+9+4+0 = 14
Reduce to a single digit: 1+4 = 5
Subtract from 11: 11-5 = 6
*if you were born between January 1 and February 3, subtract from 12: 12-5 = 7

If you were born 1972, 1981, 1990, 1999, 2008, your Birth Star is 1 Water
1 water energy is reflective, characteristic of contemplation, meditation and sleep. People with this energy are deep thinkers and are innovative. Philosophical, intuitive, sensitive and like to find meaning. They are independent and like to go with the flow unimpeded.
If you were born in 1971, 1980, 1989, 1998, 2007 your Birth Star is 2 Earth
